    Aarushi Machavarapu is the founder of Threading Twine. She is 16 years old, and a sophomore in high school in Texas. She is a passionate activist for social issues such as sexism, racism, rape culture, foster care, and more. Her other passions include photography and writing.

    Akhila is a rising senior from the Bay Area, California. Her hobbies include photography and playing basketball on her school’s varsity team. She is a huge advocate for self love and wants everyone to find value and worth in themselves. She is also obsessed with dogs, and owns an Australian shepherd named Dragon.

    Allen Wang is a second-year Computer Science student at UT Austin. His hobbies include photography, web development, cars, poker, basketball, and music. He has a significant amount of experience photographing various occasions, from formal portraits and social gatherings to sports events and car shows.     Angel Montie is 16 years old and a high school student in Missouri. Born in Victoria, British Columbia, they have a unique perspective on today's social issues and global affairs. They are a passionate activist, trying to help influence the world at a young age.

    Apurva Sriprasana

    Bay Area, CA

    Apurva is 17 years old and a senior in high school. Her family moved to the Unites States from India when she was six years old and having to adapt to the American lifestyle has provided her a unique upbringing. Growing up as a rather shy individual, she found her voice through music, visual arts and writing. Recently, she has taken an interest in social issues around the world and hopes to inspire change in any way possible.

    Ashwini is a rising junior in high school. In her free time she enjoys writing bad poetry, playing the violin, and spending time with her dog, Teddy. She has won multiple awards for her writing and has performed with her school orchestra at Carnegie Hall, New York. She is also very passionate about the Red Cross, animal rights, and is a strong advocate for defying beauty standards.

    Bharat is a rising junior. Passionate about philosophy, politics, and economics, Bharat is not afraid to voice his opinions and enjoys a spirited debate.     C Mandler is a rising senior at Bard College double majoring in Philosophy and Written Arts. They also run a campus DIY music venue called the Root Cellar, sing in their school’s sole a cappella group, serve on a working group of trans students and faculty to improve the trans experience at Bard, and work as an Event Coordinator at the college’s Difference and Media Project.

    Cheryl Ma is 17 years old and a rising senior from St. Louis, Missouri. She enjoys playing piano, taking pictures, and is an active member of her debate team. She spends her time volunteering teaching kids mathematics, serving as philanthropist of her Student Council and going on mission trips to the Navajo Reservation.     Chinmaya Andukuri is a sophomore from Austin. He's an active percussionist, guitarist and aspiring freelance writer trying to use his voice to put issues of social tolerance on a larger stage.     Cynthia Changyit-Levin is the co-leader of the RESULTS St. Louis chapter and an active member within the RESULTS organization. RESULTS is a movement of passionate, committed everyday people. Together they use their voices to influence political decisions that will bring an end to poverty.

    Ellie Fichtelberg

    Chicago, IL

    Ellie Fichtelberg is the Director of Communications and Outreach for Threading Twine. She is 17 years old and is an activist for many issues - particularly animal rights, gender equality, and raising veteran awareness. Besides running her club at school to help raise awareness for soldiers, she can be found playing softball, swimming, singing, and dancing.

    Emily Gao is 15 years old and a rising junior at Westwood High School. She is very involved in the arts, enjoys debate, and is an extemporaneous speaker. Emily is passionate about social issues including sexism and feminism. She is also very involved with DECA, and is District 5's VP.

    Erica Marney is 17 years old and a senior in high school in Pennsylvania. She is an advocate for LGBT+ rights, women's rights, and the Black Lives Matter movement. In school, she is interested in theoretical mathematics and world history. She is an avid lover of music.     Gokul Venkatachalam

    Gokul Venkatachalam is a junior in high school from St. Louis, MO and serves as Editor in Chief at Threading Twine. In his free time, he likes to read about philosophy, politics, and economics. He is passionate about ending poverty and reforming the criminal justice system. Gokul won the Scripps National Spelling Bee in 2015 and now works as a spelling bee tutor.

    Hanniya is 17 years old and a senior in high school. She is the owner of the online clothing store WreckedVibes and a published poet. Her writings advocate for racial and gender equality, as well as shed light on the importance of mental health. Hanniya enjoys adventuring around big cities and trying out new foods with her friends.

    Haran Kumar is a neo-luddistic anti-capitalist nihilist techno-optimistic nihilistic libertation socialist known for his love of -isms and oxymorons. He spoke his first words in the Spring of 2002 and hasn't stopped talking since. When not making awful, unfunny memes, he enjoys competitive debate, "playing" sports, programming, and, inspired by the homonymous Greek, studying mathematics.

    Percussionist Martin (pronounced mar-TEEN) Urbach is a Latinx immigrant and education activist. His work is based on facilitating liberated spaces for youth to fall in love with music and to promote social justice through music making. Martin has taught music, literacy, STEAM and social justice courses to over three thousand students. Martin loves dessert, Cookie Monster and good coffee.

    By day, Mikola De Roo is Housing Works VP of Advocacy Communications & Marketing, where her primary role is to get the word out about the organization’s advocacy initiatives to end the AIDS epidemic — in NY State, nationally, and globally.     Sanjana Goli has a variety of interests including the arts, speech and debate, and volunteering. She's taken her passion for dance and applied it to her volunteer work by teaching special-needs kids dance and to express themselves.
